Aiming To Be The Largest Collection of Casting Numbers On The Internet

Project Overview

The goal of this project was to collect the largest, searchable database of factory casting numbers on the internet. Pulling from a myriad of online sources, websites and other databases I have amassed a collection of several thousand casting numbers covering dozens of parts categories and numerous manufacturers..

Current State of The Project

10/08/21 - Moved site to new server.

10/16/21 - Added Buick, Oldsmobile, Lincoln and Cadillac Engine Codes
10/17/21 - Added Chrysler, Dodge, Imperial and Plymouth Engine Codes
10/18/21 - Added AMC Engine Codes

Future Goals of the Project

  • Both iOS and Android mobile app allowing you to identify parts on the go when sa`y browsing a swap meet, or your local junk yard
  • Site wide integration and search function
  • Add part images when possible
  • Guide to parts identification
  • VIN number decoding information
  • GM RPO Code database
  • Consolidate database tables
  • Remote administration and CRUD for database administrators

Known Issues

  • Database structure - The database table layout is not optimal and needs entirely redesigned. May require manual input of information again
  • Database tables require manual refreshing after updates and additions
  • Website integration and search functionality are not optimal
  • Database administration needs to be centralized on one single secure CRUD page using strong password and user authentication
  • Xcrud software outdated and features numerous bugs - Consider updating to 1.7 version of software (purchase from xcrud.net, not Envato marketplace OR find more suitable solution)

Administration Goals

  • Streamlined record addition
  • Improved editing process and record removal
  • Customized listing display based on record category
